Information About Alum Creek

Alum Creek is one of the oldest settled areas in Bastrop County. The area was settled by seven pioneer families from Stephen Austin’s lower colonies and many of their descendants still live in the area. Originally there was a fort built along the creek with small ranches around it. At one point the Alum Creek community had it’s own post office and saloon,nowadays it is home to large and small ranches, rural residential properties, antiques and collectibles shops, camping and RV spots and some good local restaurants.
