About Bastrop
Bastrop is a river town located about 30 miles outside of Austin. The town of Bastrop is the county seat and is the largest town in the county. Bastrop is located along the Colorado River. Bastrop was at one point for a brief time in history the location of the Capital of Texas until it was moved to Austin. Bastrop has been voted one of the most historic towns in Texas and is filled with beautiful vintage and historic homes and buildings.

Shopping and Restaurants
There is convenient shopping right in town with a Walmart, HEB, Home Depot and a Lowes all withing a few minutes of one another. There are plenty of wonderful restaurants and pubs in and around the historic downtown area on or near Main Street. There is also a year round Farmers Market in downtown that features local ranchers, farmers, and locally grown products.
Things to Do in Bastrop area
For those who love the outdoors there are a number of parks in the area to enjoy such as Beucher State Park that has a golf course, public pool, picnic and camping areas. Down by the Colorado River just below Tahitian Village there is another golf course – Pine Forest and there is also a hiking trail. If you love to fish there is Lake Bastrop just a few miles out of town with both north and south parks that offer camping, picnic facilities, swim beaches, and boat launches. If you like to trail ride there are plenty of trails nearby at one of a few privately owned properties and McKinney Roughs run by the LCRA. If you like to take a leisurely stroll downtown Bastrop has a great river walk that you can access from Fishermans Park.
