Bateman Texas is a small rural community south of Austin in Bastrop County on Highway 86 eleven miles south of Bastrop on Highway 21, two miles east of Red Rock in Bastrop County, it offers great access to larger towns like Bastrop and Lockhart ( Caldwell County ).
About Bateman
Bateman was established in the early 1880s and became a shipping point upon the arrival of the railroad in the 1890s. Named for one of the original settlers, no population figures have been available since 1990 although this tiny town remains listed as a Texas community. There are some wonderful rural residential properties as well as ranches of all sizes around the Bateman area. It was named for one of the early settlers per historians. It is a great area for smaller farms and ranches.
