I was out showing horse properties today in Bastrop County and was so happy to see that local farms and ranches were out in the process of baling hay. We have had some good rain so far this year combined with just enough heat and dry days for healthy hay production. Lots of beautiful pastures for sure!
It certainly was a beautiful sight to see after last summer’s extensive drought. Fields everywhere were being layed down, raked, or in the midst of the baling process, and my favorite site of all is a field that has been put up with the bales ready for storage. I am a big fan of round bales for my horses and was drooling over all the beautiful bales of coastal we saw today. I bale my pastures but I have a mix of grasses which produces great feed but is never as pretty as pure coastal bales. I am glad to see that everyone is making hay while the sun shines in Bastrop County!
